Photography Federation promotes Vietnam’s images to the world

240 delegates from 43 countries and territories will attend the 30th Federation of International Art Photography (FIAP) conference, held in Vietnam for the first time from August 1-8.

Vu Quoc Khanh, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA), said on July 26 that the event is held to welcome the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and to promote national images to international friends.

During the event, the VAPA will choose for display about 100 high-quality colour and black and white photos that have received domestic and international prizes.

FIAP, established in 1947, is the largest and most prestigious art photography organisation under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) with members from 80 countries and territories worldwide.

Vietnam became a member of FIAP in 1991 and has about 300 member photographers at present.

The artists will also join a fact-finding tour of Hanoi, and trips to the central province of Quang Binh and the northern province of Ninh Binh, to produce artworks which will be collected and published in a book.
